What Makes You a Professional Teacher (PART I)
Have you ever asked yourself “ What makes me a successful and a professional teacher?’’
Well, as we all know , teaching is not easy but it is very interesting job . It may seem easy to study at a university and prepare yourself to be a teacher , but when it is the time t practice it may not look as easy as it was expected . There are some important things you should keep as a good teacher . I am going to mention here the most important ones I have experienced through my work period .
Well, the most thing you should have to be a successful teacher is to know your students and their needs well . Classes , especially at universities , are heterogeneous ,i.e your classes have many students with different backgrounds , education knowledge, learning strategies , needs, and may be culture . It is very important to know your students before starting work . If you teach grammar and structure , for example, ask your students to write a short paragraph about themselves . You can collect their work and check it later . Their work will tell you their background and knowledge of grammar rules and sentence structure . So, getting an idea about the entire needs of your students is the most important factor in being a professional teacher .
Along with , professional teachers are always patient and organized . they never rush their students or explain randomly . So, to move one stair upwards success, plan everything before you go to class . Set all things according to a logical order and introduce your lesson step by step taking into consideration your students learning strategies . Besides, a successful teacher shows an interest in the subject as well as the students . So, be patient with and show a great interest in your students .
Further more, professional teachers enjoy their job and vary their roles in the class .You may want to be the person who provides the students information , but besides being information deliverer , you can be a close friend of them , a parent , a promoter , ….. . You can enjoy and vary your role in the class in a way that interests both , your students and you . You never can better when you enjoy your job . Creating a relaxed environment helps you successfully cover a great amount of the content . Besides,you will realize better participation of your students with time and therefore learning will happen .
Curriculum Design (Part I)
DEFINITION:
In theory , there are two main dimensions of the curriculum are: curriculum design and engineering curriculum . According to George A. Beauchamp ( 1975:101 ) , curriculum design may be defined as the substance and organization of the goals and culture of content so arranged as to reveal potential progression through levels of schooling . ( Curriculum design can be described as an essential element , component or target results and the entrenched culture ) . According Oemar Hamalik (1993 ) is a design sense that gives basic instructions , directions , goals and techniques adopted in initiating and carrying out activities . Fred Henry Percival and Ellington ( 1984 ) , the Hamalik suggested that curriculum design is the process of planning the development , validation , implementation , and evaluation of curriculum. And by Nana S. Sukmadinata ) curriculum design pattern is related to the organization of the elements or components of the curriculum . Preparation of curriculum design can be viewed from two dimensions , namely horizontal and vertical dimensions . Horizontal dimension with respect to the preparation of the scope of the curriculum content . While the vertical dimension concerns the preparation of materials sequence in order of difficulty .
PRINCIPLES :
1 ) Design curriculum should facilitate and encourage the selection and development of all types of learning experiences that are essential for learning achievement , in accordance with the expected results .
2 ) The design includes a variety of meaningful learning experiences in order to realize the goals of education , especially for groups of students who study with the guidance of a teacher .
3 ) The design must allow and provide opportunities for teachers to use the principles learned in selecting , guiding , and develop a variety of learning activities in school .
4 ) The design should allow teachers to tailor the experience to the needs , capacities , and level of maturity of the students .
5 ) The design should encourage teachers to consider a variety of children's learning experiences gained outside of school and associate it with learning activities at school .
6 ) The design should provide a continuous learning experience , so that students' learning activities evolve in line with previous experience , and continues to the next experience .
7 ) The curriculum should be designed to help students develop the character , personality , experience , and values that animate democratic culture .
8 ) Design curriculum must be realistic , feasible , and acceptable .
Definition of a textbook
Textbook is a teaching tool (material) which presents the subject matter defined by the curriculum. A university textbook is required to contain the complete overview of the subject, including the theories, as well as to be of a more permanent character. A university textbook has to be approved by the university Commission for Scientific and Instructional Literature, based on the opinion of three reviewers. In the 'print times' the textbook was also required to be produced in good quality and representative manner. |
Tehnical concept
Using CAE (materials, structural analysis) technology in our two core material (insulation, conduction) and process (formulation, dispersion) technologies, we develop quality high-tech materials which will lead the next generation in five growth fields represented by the acronym SEEDS : (S: semi-conductor, E: environment, E: energy, D: display, S:
Tehnical development
By refining the materials technology built up since our foundation and further strengthening the development of new technologies, NAMICS provides products which give three-dimensional form to the latent wishes of our customers. Through collaboration with our customers on products which they have suggested, we achieve product development that is dynamically in the forefront of next-generation transformations and contributes to the creation of new technical value.
Topic #1: Definition, scope of ESP material
development and the role of teaching materials
1. Definition:
Material development is basically dealing with
selection, adaptation, and creation of teaching
materials (Nunan, 1991). In practice, it focused
on evaluation, adaptation of published materials
and creation (development of teaching materials
by teacher in line with the existing syllabus)2 The scope of Material Development
Based on the definition, the coverage of
material development consists of:
2.1 the selection or evaluation of teaching
material on the basis of a set of criteria
or principles;
2.2 the process of adapting teaching
materials based on a set of criteria or
principles
2.3 the creation of teaching materials based on
a set of principles, theories, and the
syllabus developed by teachers 3. The role of teaching materials
According to Richards (2001) teaching
materials in the process of teaching and
Learning function as:
3.1 the language input for learners;
3.2 ideas for teachers in planning and teaching
lessons In line with this, Canningsworth(1995)
summarizes the role of teaching materials
(especially textbooks) as:
• a resource for presenting materials (spoken
and written);
• a source of activities for practice and
communicative interaction;
• a reference source for learners on grammar,
vocabulary, pronunciation, and so on• a source for stimulation and ideas for
classroom activities;
• a syllabus (where they reflect learning
objectives that have already been
determined); and
• a support for less experienced teachers who
have yet to gain in confidenceWhereas, Dudley-Evans and St. John
(1998) Suggest that for teachers of ESP
courses, teaching materials function as:
• as a source of language;
• as learning support;
• for motivation and stimulation;
• for reference. • Task #1: Now, in a group of five:
1. Discuss other possible roles of teaching
materials in the teaching and learning
process.
2. Give examples of teaching materials
related to the roles you discussed in the
group
MATERIAL OF DEVELOPMENT
This material is for teachers to use alongside the experiences and outcomes as they plan for the development of learners' scientific knowledge, understanding and skills.
It describes progression in the development of knowledge and understanding of some of the scientific concepts which are contained within the experiences and outcomes as children and young people learn within a level and then move on to the next.
Methods and concepts for material development
Energy materials have to be able to withstand extreme stresses and perform their function both reliably and maximally efficient over extended periods of time. For production of new kinds of materials with the desired properties, elaborate atomic-scale simulations and measuring processes are essential. HZB experts are studying physical processes that limit the efficiency and stability of solar cells, photocatalytic building elements, and materials for thermoelectric energy generation. The new EMIL lab facility (a BESSY II add-on), which is scheduled to commence operations in 2015, will allow for observation of thin film growth without vacuum interference. This way, building elements will be able to be developed at a much faster rate.
Research goal
To develop new kinds of solar material and coating systems.
Competencies
Comprehensive analytics, including EPR spectroscopy in the MHz to THz range (both in the lab and at BESSY II)
Example of Public Speaking
I would like to say thank to Allah, who gives me a time to speech in this special moment, and also to prophet Muhammad, his families, and his friends.
In this time Iam going to talk about the Independen Day.
First,I’ll describe about Indonesian Declaration of Independence. Then I’ll describe about Indonesians celebrate the Independence day. Finally, I’ll sumarize my speech with a hope.
The Indonesian Declaration of Independen was officially proclaimed at 10.00 a.m on Friday , august 17th, 1945. The declaration marked the start of the five year diplomatic and armed-resistance of the Indonesian National Revolution, fighting against the force of the Netherlands until the latter officially acknowladged Indonesian’s independence in 1949. In 2005, the Netherlands declared that they recognized Indonesian independence in 1945, not 1949.
Every year on 17th August, Indonesians celebrate the Independence Day. It’s very fun. There are a lot of contest, like panjat pinang. And in Istana Merdeka, they are having ceremony. May be, some of you go to have celebrate. You must be spirit in the Independen Day, you look our heros, and they are held to pass to gain freedom. And now, we’re as the students , we have to have spirit to celebrate the Independence Day. To conclude, if you confess that you that you’re Indonesian’s people, you must care about Indonesia, the Independence Day of Indonesia, and all of Indonesia you must like, because it’s your country.
Ok, may be enough from me, sorry if I had some mistaks. May I thank you all for being such an attentive audience.
Wassalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb

Political Education Function Definition According to the Experts
Understanding Political Education is the term 'political education' is a term often used by practitioners of community empowerment to describe any process conducted within the framework of improving social awareness of the political dynamics that occur.
Definition of Political Education According to the Experts
However, in the literature are rarely found in standard definition of the term "political education". If the term "education" is defined as described in the section above, and "political" as Miriam difinisikan Budiardjo (1988: 8),
"Politics is an assortment of activities within a political system (or state) concerning the process of defining the objectives of the system and implement those goals. Decision-making on whether the objectives of the political system, among several alternatives regarding the selection and preparation of the priorities of the objectives that have been it. " Key concepts in politics is; state, power, decision-making, discretion, and the distribution or allocation.
Then it can be a simple definition that political education is a device by which social groups continue to exist are updating themselves and defend his ideals in the face of a wide variety of activities in a political system with different objectives. Simply put, is any effort made by certain groups in society to liberate humanity from poverty's pent-up social to then contribute to the political process is going on, especially on issues related directly to the interest of his life.
In the realm of classical political theory, Machiavelli stated that political education should be given to people "who do not know". Political education are interpreted not as a political education negatively about a hater of tyrants, but a positive education, which is given to those who recognize the importance of such education, even if such education is an instrument of tyranny which pursues a certain advantage (Gramsci, 2001: 17). Rusadi Kantaprawira (1977: 54) states that education is one of the functions of the political structures in society. With a "leveler" political education with political socialization, Kantaprawira defining political education in an effort to improve people's political knowledge, and ultimately the people can participate optimally in the political system. The political education can be held, among others, through:
The materials that can be read (readable, legible), such as newspapers, magazines, and other publications that are mass and which could form a general opinion,
Broadcasts can be heard (audible) and television and movies that can be seen and heard (audio-visual nature),
Institutions, associations in the community such as mosques and churches were preaching, and possibly also through formal or informal education.
Function of Political Education
Almond and Coleman, as quoted by Rusadi Kantaprawira (1977: 56) writes about the function of political education in the political structure, that "present in every political system are the methods of recruitment and political training that cause us to ask how people are recruited and promoted to directions roles and political orientations in the political system different? Or a function of recruitment and socialization. "

Meanwhile, according to Mansour Fakih (1999: 5), political education is any attempt to deliver critical awareness to respect for human beings against human rights, including women's rights, children's rights, cultural and political rights of the mino-rity, rights disability rights, and other human rights. He also mentioned the attitude that there is a correlation between respect for human rights and a democratic political system. Environmental education will encourage critical democratic political system that will give birth to people who menghar-gai human rights, but difficult to realize a democratic society by education model authoritarian-totalitarian degrading of human rights. Therefore, building a social and political system is democratic only be realized by a system of political education critical. In other words, to realize the socio-political system of democratic, political education is critically needed. In Erwin Sugiarto, op.cit. page 27
Political education is an integral part of political socialization, both conceptually and in practice, because the elements contained in the political education can be assumed to be equal to the elements contained in the political socialization. These elements include;
Understanding Political Education
1. Political values, which are defined by Frans Bona Sihombing (1984: 27) as;
A set of estimates or calculations given above political policies.
The policies that have been forecasted that faced with the realities of politics, so it begs the question; political actions what should be done?
Political measures that should be implemented are increased to a political imperative. Political imperative in the sense to consider through what is good and what is right ended with a decision that the political imperative to be done because that is what we recommend.
Which should preferably be carried out it is advancing
Which should preferably be carried out and promote it should be applied in the form of behavior that is determined by the nature of the culture of a nation.
Applications in the form of behavior that raises the level of change which is useful.
Changes beneficial it includes anything that may be important from an interest in the political possibilities.

2. Knowledge of politics.
Jack Dennis formulate political knowledge in three variables, namely; knowledge of the government, knowledge of the rules of politics, and knowledge about the environment and society. (Suwondo, 1998: 11) Meanwhile, Kurniati Country (1993: 2) argues that "political knowledge means everything that is known with regard to the various activities within a political system, which includes knowledge of the destination country, state agencies and other -other".
3. Political
According Sudijono Sastroatmojo (1995: 4), the political attitudes is readiness to react to certain objects of a political nature, as a result of the appreciation of the object. Attitude is not an act of activity, but it just is a tendency of a certain attitude, and can be expected to act what will be done with respect to the objects in question. According to Alfian, behavior and political lahu is a person's tendency to act (silence is also an attitude) towards a situation. If someone feels compelled to change the atmosphere has been far from democratic to become more democratic, that too will reflect political attitudes and behavior. Ibid., P 29
Attitudes and political behavior of the contested-Tukan by what is contained in her, like idealism, intelligence, biological factors, the heart's desire, also by the atmosphere, the culture, the statehood, political, social, economic and so on.
In other words, as stated by Haryanto, political education is a clear manifestation of political socialization. In kontekstualisasinya with functions of political parties as a means of socialization and political education, both intended to improve knowledge and political awareness of members, cadres or sympathizers. These include efforts to improve the knowledge of the people about their political rights in the state of life (Naning Mardiniah, et al., 2004: 102).
Political education is also closely related to the development of high political culture. The political culture in question, as stated by Gabriel A. Almond and Sidney Verba, an orientation typical attitude of citizens towards the political system and a variety of parts and attitudes towards the role of citizens in the system. With this orientation, they assess and question places their role in the political system. (Didi Turmuzi, 2004: 2)
Attitudes of individuals and communities in the political system, obviously Almond and Verba, can be measured using three components: cognitive, affective, and evaluative. The cognitive component, for example the level of a person's knowledge about the development of the political system, the bureaucratic elite, the policies are taken, and symbols are owned by the political system. Affective component talked about aspect of the feeling of a typical citizen of the aspects of certain political system that makes accept or reject the political system. While in the evaluative component, the orientation of citizens determined by the moral evaluation that indeed he had. In the context of political education linkages with the political culture of this addition, different opinions written by
M. Panggabean, stating that political education is "how a nation's political culture transfer from generation to generation later". In this case, the definition of political culture is the "whole of values, beliefs empirical and expressive emblem which determines the creation of situations in which political activity is held. (In Ramdlon Naning, ed., 1984: 1) Ramsji Tadjuddin added that the principles underlying the implementation of political education is;
cultural educative, in the form of coaching is based on the cultural values espoused local communities;
democratic in its implementation;
integralistik with programs in other fields;
bring welfare benefits;
done gradually, in stages, and sustainable;
does not interfere with the safety and political stability.
